Australia Koala 1 oz Platinum BU (Random Year)
Buy a piece of bullion history. The Platinum Koala was minted by the Perth Mint back in 1988. With annually changing motifs (always a different koala), the Australians quickly made this platinum coin a success. Next to the cute marsupial on the obverse is the inscription "The Australien Koala", the fine weight (1 oz) and the fineness (9995 platinum)
On the reverse side, surrounded by a wreath of pearls, is the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II at a more mature age. The official face value of 100 Australian dollars is also shown here. In 2000 the Koala series was discontinued in platinum. However, the maximum circulation of 100,000 per year was never reached. From 1998 the demand sank drastically, which was mainly due to the competition with other platinum coins.
