With the issue of the 2 oz. Twin Silver Maple, the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) is expanding its bullion coin program with another spectacular investment coin. This special bullion coin comes with special, visual security features. For example a laser-engraved mini maple leaf on the back. With this unique innovation, the Royal Canadian Mint guarantees additional security. The laser mark changes annually and shows the last two numbers of the year of the mintage.
A second security feature are the embossed, extremely fine radial lines.
Motif and characteristics of the silver coin
The silver 2 oz Twin Maple differs from the classic Silver Maple Leaf. Three leaves of the silver maple tree from which it is named are depicted on the front. The legend shows the respective weight (2 oz) and the fineness of the coin (.9999 silver) - both in English and in French (i.e. the two national languages of the issuing country).
The 2 oz Maple Leaf in silver was designed by Celia Godkin. The artist's abbreviation is in the lower right third. The year of issue is also stamped here.
The reverse of the 2 oz Maple Leaf silver coin is decorated with a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II of England. In addition to her motto, the official face value of 10 Canadian dollars can also be seen here.
